SACRAMENTAL PREP
Sacramental Prep is mandatory for 2nd grade children to receive their First Holy Communion in May. All children in 2nd grade, whether attending public school or St. Gabriel School, and a parent, will need to attend these classes. Our next class will be Wednesday, February 8th. For more information, please contact Melissa at [email protected] or 765-825-8578.
CLASS DOJO
Class Dojo is our primary means of communication between teachers and parents. Please make sure you are checking this daily! If you are not getting messages or cannot see the school story, please contact your child’s teacher or the office.
MAKE-UP WORK
If your child is absent and you are requesting make-up work, please make sure you are picking it up that day. Make-up work will be located on the table in the breezeway. If a Chromebook is required for make-up work, it will need to be picked up in the office.
TARDIES & ABSENCES
Students need to be at school and on time each day. Students are counted Tardy if they arrive after the 8:15 a.m. bell. Students are counted Absent if they arrive after 9:00 a.m. Those with excessive tardies and absences will receive communication from Mrs. Struewing.
All absences are to be reported to the office at the start of the school day by calling 825-7951. Do not rely solely on texting or messaging the teacher. Students with medical appointments are to bring a doctor/dentist note to the office when they return to school.
SCHOOL DELAYS
There are times when the weather may require us to call for a two-hour delay or early dismissal. For the 2022 – 2023 school year, we have 2 make-up days built into the calendar. These are February 20th and April 10th. If these make-up days are not used, they will be scheduled days off from school. If we have a winter with more than 2 missed days, any additional days missed will be added to the end of the school year beginning on May 25th.
Since we use Fayette County School Corporation bussing, we will observe the same weather related closings or delays. Look for announcements from the school as well as listening to radio stations 1580 AM or 101.3 FM, or the emergency notification system for school closing and delays. All attempts will be made to post on social media (Facebook and Class Dojo) as well.
The following link allows you to sign up to receive emergency alerts and severe weather warnings: (https://public.alertsense.com/SignUp/?RegionId=1679).
Closings - If school is delayed Before School Service will be delayed also.
Special Circumstances - There may be days when St. Gabriel Catholic School and the Fayette County School Corporation do not coordinate days. Special notice and directions will be given for those days.
Parents always have the final decision as to whether they send their children to school during inclement weather.
TARDIES & ABSENCES
If you will be volunteering in the school or going on a field trip, you must have a completed Safe Parish training on file AND a completed background check through the program. Both must be completed before you can volunteer. Please go to www.archindysafeparish.org and use our passcode Archindy2021.
Remember that all families are asked to volunteer three times throughout the school year.
